Homespun Market on Site

Lee Harper created Crystal Rivet 3 years ago. She has a keen and undeniable interest in recycling fabrics. Pivotal to her creative ideas is allowing her creations to take on an individual and unique form relevant to their material. This gives the customer a genuine bespoke item. All of her items are not reproducible for this reason.
Lee started out producing small, handmade, woollen rivets, which have increased in popularity in that time, having sold to local, national and international clients. Rivets are made to be used as brooches or a button which will be the focus point on coats and blouses. Rivets are intended to be bold, acting as a focus for others to gaze on, hence riveting an admirer's gaze.
Lee predominantly uses locally produced woollen blanketing, made by Launceston's and Australia's oldest mill, Waverly Woollen Mills. Old blanketing is dyed and hand-stitched to make attractive items such as dolls.
Vintage 1960s and 1970s fabric, such as barkcloth, are also utilised to make clothing for the dolls and when blended with hand stitching, form unique rivets.
Lee's work can be seen at the market throughout the year.
